Link to a radio show about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) among combat veterans. This is a very serious problem that has led to many suicides. The military needs to find ways to help these people. The radio show included a discussion of the aftermath of the US Civil War, where many thousands of men were permanently shattered by their experiences on the battlefield. The producers of a movie on this subject are interviewed. They found some letters from Civil War soldiers send before and after their traumatic experiences. It was very clear that the symptoms of PTSD in Civil War vets mirrors closely what is currently being experienced by those returning from Afghanatan and Iraq.
