NYT article about plans to build a wind energy backbone along the Eastern US Coast

This project could lead to dramatic changes going forward. If cheap, plentiful wind power can be generated from the ocean, what would the affect be in the US on: real estate prices in coastal cities? How would our dependency on foreign oil and gas be affected?  What would happen if electricity became significantly cheaper and more plentiful? What about climate change?
