This weekend is the Red Hook Harvest Festival, and it could be a great place to learn about the relationship between food and social justice. The Red Hook Community Farm was started years ago in order to provide healthy food options in a community that did not at the time have a grocery store at all. (Now Red Hook is home to one of the city's Fairway Markets). The history of the organization as well as its programming may provide inspiration to some of you.
