Google App Inventor
This video shows how it is now possible to make simple apps for Android Phones without any programming. It is completely drag and drop, so it should now be possible to produce lots of cool things. The apps can be set up to use the phone's GPS data, so they can be location-aware, and also the apps can make phone calls, send emails or texts, and basically use any of the phone's features. I am starting to play with this, so please let me know if you would like to discuss how an app like this could be used in your thesis project.
